After a successful load-out on Saturday 5 August, the sail away of the substation topside for the Hollandse Kust (west Alpha) wind farm took place on Monday 4 September.   

The topside of 47 m long, 35 m wide, 25 m high and over 3,600 tons, is heading for its final destination 50 kilometers off the coast of Egmond aan Zee in the Netherlands.   

First, the topside will sail to IJmuiden. As soon as weather conditions allow, the topside will continue its journey from IJmuiden towards the wind farm to be installed on the jacket which, since last year, has been firmly anchored to the seabed last year. Finally, the offshore teams will perform final welding work to attach the topside to the jacket.  

After Hollandse Kust (noord), Hollandse Kust (west Alpha) is the second substation built by the EQUANS - Smulders combination for TenneT. Construction of the third substation, Hollandse Kust (west Beta) is in progress in Hoboken (topside) and Vlissingen (jacket).  

The wind farm is scheduled to be operational in 2026. 

Na een succesvolle load-out op zaterdag 5 augustus, vond maandag 4 september de sail away plaats van de substation topside voor het Hollandse Kust (west Alpha) windpark.  

De topside van 47 m lang, 35 m breed, 25 m hoog en ruim 3.600 ton, zet koers richting zijn eindbestemming op 50 kilometer voor de kust van Egmond aan Zee in Nederland. 

Eerst wordt het drijvende ponton met de topside naar de haven van IJmuiden gesleept. Zodra de weersomstandigheden het toelaten, zal de topside vanuit IJmuiden verder koers zetten richting het windpark om vervolgens geïnstalleerd worden op de jacket die, sinds vorig jaar, stevig verankerd staat op de zeebodem. Ten slotte zullen de offshore teams nog de laatste laswerken uitvoeren om de topside te bevestigen aan de jacket. 

Na Hollandse Kust (noord) is Hollandse Kust (west Alpha) de tweede substation die door de combinatie EQUANS – Smulders voor TenneT is gebouwd. De bouw van de derde substation, Hollandse Kust (west Beta) is volop aan de gang in Hoboken (topside) en Vlissingen (jacket). 

Het windpark zal, volgens de planning, in gebruik genomen worden in 2026.
