Saint-Brieuc substation moved out

The 2,120 tonne offshore substation (OSS) topside for Ailes Marines' Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm was recently moved out at Engie Solutions yard in Hoboken (Antwerp – Belgium). The platform's sail away is planned for next Spring.

A joint venture of ENGIE Solutions and Iemants (a subsidiary of Smulders) secured a contract for the construction of the substation back in September 2020.

ENGIE Solutions is responsible for the engineering, procurement, integration, construction and testing (on- and offshore) of all LV, MV, HV and auxiliary systems for the jacket and topside. Iemants is responsible for the engineering and construction of the steel structures for both the topside and jacket.

The 496 MW Saint-Brieuc windfarm, 16 km off the French coast, will feature 62 Siemens Gamesa SG 8.0-167 DD turbines, standing at 207 metres high. It is being developed by Ailes Marines, subsidiary of Spanish energy giant Iberdrola. Covering an area of 75km2 the project will be the first large-scale offshore wind farm in Brittany and, when operational in 2023, it will be capable of generating 1,820 GWh/year of electricity, expected to meet the demands of 835,000 people.

This weekend, Vlaamsewaterweg demolished the railway bridge over the Albert Canal

in the city of Genk Belgium, to make way for a higher one. The current bridge consists of 3 parts of 175 meters each.

Liebherr start with a visit to Manchester, where Liebherr LR 1750 lifted the Ordsall Chord bridge together with the LR 11350. In the city of Hasselt- Belgium,

the parts for the new arched bridge of Kuringen arrived at the assembly site on 23 May.

Fagioli was contracted by L&T Modular Fabrication Yard LLC for Transportation and Load out of D30-2 Jacket at their Modular Fabrication Yard in Sohar, Oman. The Jacket weighing 3207te and sized at 92m Long, 37.7m wide and 37.4m high was transported using Self Propelled Modular Trailers (SPMT). Fagioli used 144 Axles and 7 Power Pack Units for stated operations.

While a 300 class barge was supplied by the client, management of barge including Mooring and Ballasting was under our scope which was well engineered/executed safely.

Sleipnir makes the impossible possible offshore and sometimes inshore or, to be precise, on the quayside!

The vessel executed inshore integration lifts, including setting a new record for the heaviest lift in Norwegian waters, to successfully mate the Johan Sverdrup P2 topside on behalf of Aibel, for the end client Equinor. The three modules weighed 13,500 metric tons, 5,400 metric tons, and 4,300 metric tons! Once constructed, the topside was loaded out onto Heerema's H-851 barge and towed by Kolga to Haugesund.
