“The raising of the bridges over the Albert Canal is at cruising speed.
The bridge over the canal in Paal Tervant-Belgium will also be replaced by a new, higher bridge. These works gained momentum last weekend, with the demolition of the old bridge," says Flemish Minister of Mobility and Public Works Lydia Peeters. The replacement of the bridge is part of the further expansion of the Albert Canal as an important transport artery.
“De verhoging van de bruggen over het Albertkanaal zit op kruissnelheid. Ook in Paal-Tervant wordt de brug over het kanaal vervangen door een nieuwe hogere brug. Deze werken kwamen het afgelopen weekend in een stroomversnelling, met de afbraak van de oude brug”, zegt Vlaams minister van Mobiliteit en Openbare Werken Lydia Peeters. De vervanging van de brug kadert in de verdere uitbouw van het Albertkanaal als belangrijke transportader.
Sustainable wind power projects are more than ever in the global focus of energy generation.
For these mission, contractors rely on MSPE power to handle different heavyweight jobs. 96 Cometto self-propelled modular axle lines are used to move a 3,700 tons offshore substation jacket including loading support in South Korea. It’s a part of an important energy project for this Asian region.
96 axle lines in open compound
A key element for the installation of these plants is the offshore substation jacket, the lower base part of an offshore jacket. With a length of 49.5 meters, a height of 48.5 meters and a width of 47.5 meters, this giant is transported on a total of 96 axles of Cometto MSPE self-propelled modular transporters supported by 8 Power Pack Units.
It’s a combined cooperation of the South Korean companies DaeMyung and Global. The SPMTs are from the Cometto EVO2 series that offers a payload of 60 tons per axle line. The challenging job is executed on the shipyard of Samgang S&C where the convoy covers the distance over 300 meters to the dock in Goseong. Here, a floating crane is waiting for the next stage towards the destination on the high seas.
Sarens worked for our client CPB & John Holland JV to maneuver and install two tunnel portals in Melbourne, Victoria
Sarens has been one of the pioneers of innovative elevated roads installations in Australia. The team had installed the challenging Darlington Flyover using Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) in 2017 when moves of this size were unheard of in Australia.
Based on our strong previous experiences, our client CPB and John Holland JV asked us to transport and install two concrete tunnel portals for the West Gate Tunnel Project in Melbourne, Victoria. WGTP is currently the largest government project in Australia. It will greatly improve the accessibility and reduce the traffic congestion in and around Melbourne.
The team had to jack up the concrete portals, weighing 600T each, load them on the SPMTs, drive them to the installation site, and finally jack down and install the portals. For the project the equipment deployed was: 36 axle-lines of SPMTs - Sarlift - PJ250
In a confined space, the crew skillfully assembled the equipment. Four PJ250 pre-jacked the portals on the 2x18 axles SPMTs and relocated them under the Sarlift. The Sarlift jacked the portals around 7m high. The reconfigured 3x12 axles SPMTs with four PJ250 and supporting modular beam on the deck were re-positioned under the Sarlift and the portals were transferred onto this assembly of equipment and finally driven to the installation site and installed.

Remove Arch Bridge Vianen - the Netherlands
The photos show that the towers are being installed, which will later be connected to the towers on the pontoon. To get everything installed and to determine the crane setups, a 3D model was made beforehand to see if everything fits, and in which way the cranes should move. The photos also show that beach jackets have been hoisted into the towers. A beach jack is a hydraulic jack used to lift or lower heavy loads.
